North Coast 500
The North Coast 500, as it is known, is becoming a very popular driving route in the North of Scotland and the Highlands. The roads were always there but have been named the NC500 to summarise the route.
There are many modes of transport used to tackle Scotland’s ‘Route 66’ some choose campers, some motorbikes and others bicycles. However our biased opinion of using sports cars is by far the best.
Many sports car clubs and enthusiasts make the pilgrimage to drive the NC500 including Porsche, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Caterham, Lotus etc. It has become viewed as the ‘Road to drive’ in Scotland in much the same way as climbers flock to Ben Nevis.
The route officially starts and finishes in Inverness with participants debating to travel clockwise or anti clockwise, it doesn’t really matter which. The route takes in some of the most breathtaking scenery, historic castles, beaches, wildlife and fantastic roads.
Sports Car Rental
Mountains Glens and Sports Cars can offer great sports cars to tackle the route without having to drive from the Central belt or Southern England. Arrive at Inverness Airport or Train station where we will collect you at no extra charge. We will take you to your chosen sports car, Aston Martin, Lotus, Porsche or Ford Focus RS. All you need to do is check your route and drive. All our cars are located at the start of the NC500 and do not have to be delivered to the region at extra costs like most of the larger hire companies. The car on the web site is the car you drive, no wording ‘or similar’ is used in our literature.
If you do not want to do the whole route certain sections can be covered easily in a day or two. If you want to avoid the route altogether there are so many more options to enjoy the Highlands here are a few examples.
