We have detailed a few routes that could be used in our Sports Cars, we have tried to include some great driving roads with scenery and attractions, the possibilities are quite endless. You may only want to hire a car for a special occasion and just head into town, the choice is yours.
Inverness, Achnasheen, Isle of Skye, Loch Ness
Leave mountains Glens and Spots Cars and head out to The Muir of Ord, visit the Glen Ord Distillery for a tour or just pop into the shop. Continue towards Contin and stop off at Rogie Falls, a great place to see Salmon jumping.
Back on the road and head out to Achnasheen with breath taking views all the way to the Kyle of Lochalsh. Continue over the Bridge onto the Isle of Skye and head towards the Cuillens, a truly magnificent range of mountains, some great photo opportunities here. Visit Dunvegan Castle and discover its history. Continue onto Portree with its busy harbour and lovely painted houses. Portree is a great place for an overnight stay with plenty of accommodation, bars and restaurants.
Leave Portree and head back down the island, over the Skye bridge to visit one of Scotlands most iconic castles….Eilean Donnan. The Castle has been used in various films over the years, the most noted would be ‘Highlander’.
Continue onwards passing loch Cluanie and into Glen Shiel with great views and photo opportunities. Once you reach Invermorriston continue north along Loch Ness to Drumnadrochit and Urqhart Castle, from here you could head into Inverness or across the moors back to Mountains Glens and Sports Cars.
Route Distance 255 miles and would take 2 – 3 days to complete.
Inverness, Gairloch, Poolewe
This route takes you to Gairloch passing Achnasheen and along to Glen Docherty where there is a great viewpoint looking to Loch Maree. There are many places to eat in Gairloch with stunning views out to sea. The road then continues to Poolewe, this is a great road to test the cars.
If you have a head for heights stop off at Corrieshalloch Gorge. Continue back along Loch Glascarnoch where there are some great viewpoints particularly near the dam. One last place of interest are the Rogie falls just before you reach Contin, see Salmon climbing the falls and then back to Mountains Glens and Sports Cars.
Total Distance 148 miles and can be completed in a day.
Inverness, Nairn, Grantown on Spey, Braemar, Glen Coe, Fort William, Loch Ness
This route takes you through the Highland Capital of Inverness into the Cairngorm National Park along the old military road to Braemar. You then circle back around over Rannoch moor and through Glen Coe, the backdrop for many films with stunning scenery.
Finally head North through Fort William and along the world Famous Loch Ness. Visit Drumnadrochit with it’s Nessie centres and Urqhuart Castle. From here you can either go into Inverness or across the moor to your finish destination at Mountains Glens and Sports Cars.
Total Distance 308 miles and could be completed over 2 to 3 days.
